WELCOME

We do not accept books for review and comments at this time. The ScriberView Objectives

Many sites describe the craft of writing novels. Most tell you what not to do. This site tells you what to do. There are no hard and fast rules in writing, only guidelines. A novelist is partly like a painter, an artist, whose work is meant to reflect individuality, which cannot flourish in constraints. The thoughts must flow freely during the process of creation. However, there are some nuances to modern fiction writing, one being that it must be absolutely visual. This site describes the art of visual writing.

Site objectives are:

  1. To describe the elements of modern fiction, including plot creation, effective narrative, character development, and dialogue writing techniques. Well written sections of modern novels are used here to demonstrate these aspects of novel writing.
  2. To independently evaluate latest better written fiction novels, to describe their salient features and to comment on them. Our team may go for best seller, but not always, for all best sellers are not well written. Our reviews are dictated by the quality of the novels with respect to plot, content and style.

We select books mostly  from Amazon.com website by first reading via the ‘Look Inside’ feature to assess the quality of writing. We highlight the salient features of better novels, and use them to demonstrate the writing techniques. We don’t accept books directly from writers for review and comments at this time.  When all sections on the craft of fiction writing are complete, this site will accept requests from authors who want their novels evaluated.

In this era of self-publishing many well-written novels are lost in the maze of the rest. The ScriberView is designed to describe the process and techniques for writing a great novel regardless of commercial considerations.

Our SriberView team picks exemplary novels, and evaluates them for content, plot, character development, language and style. Comments on those novels are posted in a separate section (Novel Evaluation on Menu Bar). The salient elements from these novels are then added to the section that deals with the craft. All sections will be updated regularly by our team, until complete.

A Word About Fiction Writing

Modern fiction writing is an art molded by the demands of today’s readers. Aspiring writers who have taken a university level courses in English literature know that the modern fiction readers’ expectations are not the same as the professors’. This is not to suggest that nothing learnt in such courses applies to novel writing. The principles of novel writing defined over centuries haven’t changed, but the readers’ exposure to various media, especially the visual, has transformed them to the extent that they expect the novels to be purely visual.  This site’s shows you how to create a visual fiction. Now go to NOVEL WRTING in menu bar.

The section ‘Novel Writing’ will be completed soon. The presentation will focus on visual writing, a different approach to learning altogether. You can now click on the next menu-bar item, Craft of Fiction.
