COMMENTS:

THE HOLY THIEF BY William Ryan

This is a compelling debut murder mystery set in Russia in 1936.  A woman is killed in a church,  and the investigation begins.  The prologue grips you at the outset. “In the still of the sacristy the only sounds were the dripping of her blood onto the marble floor and the whisper of her breathing.” Ryan’s imagery is acutely  real and cinematic.

“A powerful intricate plot, masterfully handled. The depiction of the  central character, Korolev, is deserving of admiration. This is a must read.” ~ The Scriber View

SHIVA TRILOGY 3, by Amish

Amish demonstrates wonderful narrative and dialogue techniques. He tackles the intricacies of the plot with fluent ease while maintaining suspense and coherence. One peculiarity is the use of single quote marks  ‘.’ instead of the double  “.”. This makes a large block of dialogue (i.e. with many lines) on a page appear like narrative prose. This is grammatically acceptable. Try it in your next novel.

“This last of the Shiva Trilogy novels along with the previous two will go down as the most gripping  modern fictions in Oriental mythology.” ~ The Scriber View

TIBETAN TEMPEST..  by R.K. Diwan

This  fast-paced, action packed suspense thriller is set in Tibet with events flowing to India and the USA.  The central character, Denis Martin, could well be a cross between Agent James Bond and the modern day Indiana Jones. Diwan’s imagery is cinematic, and style unique, with elements characteristic of Ian Fleming, Tom Clancy and Dan Brown. It is truly a page turner.

Our Evaluation.

“Tibetan Tempest s a remarkable fusion of mystery and mysticism in a mesmerizing adventure. It is an utterly compelling thriller.” ~ ~~~~~The Scriber View

The Hunting Dog by Louis Powell

Our team picked this novel for review for certain exemplary features. This is an engaging story with Southern United States as the setting. Well written.

The story is about a man who moves from Chicago to take a job in a small Southern town of Fenton, Georgia. Much of the novel follows the main character Tim Lichen as he learns his new job and meets characters in town. Through out there is a weaving of something else being shown in the story which is much more sinister. You wait for the ax to fall and find out what the novel was all about.
“An engaging novel set in Georgia. The suspense will challenge the inner recesses of your mind.” The ScriberView

Yoga of the Impossible…by Diane Frank

The author, a Pulitzer Prize nominee, has again created a marvelous book. She has blended poetry and prose in an unparalleled style. Only one previous famous novel, The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje, comes close.  Her metaphors are uniquely poetic, drawn out of a ripe imagination reaching beyond bounds. Example:

“From a nearby loft, I heard the wide vibrato of a cello – a musical prayer in a minor key, played close to my heart, held between my legs with the passion of an embrace.”

“Yoga of the Impossible is a masterpiece creation, a lesson in poetic style, which carries you away, and leads you  to far out realms beyond mere physical existence.”The Scriber View
